Liver Detox Smoothie Recipe

Almost daily I see pop ups on social media about the newest craze, or the latest diet. Unfortunately, many popular diets involve calorie eating with a serious lack of nutrients. Low calorie eating can rob your body of important nutrients and place your body in starvation mode, which actually slows down your metabolism. Remember – it’s important to focus on the quality of your food.

Today, we will touch a bit on the importance of detoxifying.

Why our bodies detoxify (your body is actually detoxifying itself right now)

When our bodies become “toxic”, it means our natural way of getting rid of waste (normal human waste, environmental pollution, and every day food-like foods {not real foods – cookies, crackers, cakes, soda pop, juice boxes, etc). When we have too much of a toxic buildup, our bodies are over working and it cannot detoxify quick enough-negatively affecting our entire bodies.

How do you know if you are toxic?

Some examples are:

  • Constipation
  • Persistent headaches, muscle aches and muscle fatigue
  • Eating a lot of tuna, canned foods, etc.
  • Several mercury fillings
  • Food allergies
  • Stubborn weight loss
  • Hormonal imbalances and consistent use of hormone replacement treatments such as birth control or creams like progesterone.
  • Consistent use of NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen
  • Skin abnormalities such as acne, rosacea or eczema
  • A lifetime of consuming the Standard American Diet

Liver Detoxifying Smoothie Recipe

1/2 cup Organic Cranberry Juice (nothing added)

3 cubes frozen Arctic Gardens Spinach

1 local crisp apple (core removed, diced)

½ Organic banana

1 scoop Barleans Chocolate Greens

½ cup filtered water

Blend all ingredients in a blender and enjoy!
